Easy and Simple Bacon Wrapped Chicken Kabobs recipe

Hello friends and welcome back. I’m bringing you a very simple recipe that was inspired by having a busy play day at the park followed by needing an easy protein rich dinner.

Not every recipe needs a lot of ingredients, nor does it need to be complicated. I’m getting right to the point and bringing the recipe up front and center. For a more visual on how I prepared this dish, you can check out the video on Ivy Lillies Homestead on YouTube or click the button below. Ingredients needed to make these Bacon Wrapped Chicken Kabobs are….

  • Chicken tenderloins
  • bacon
  • onion
  • bell pepper
  • skewers
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • black pepper
  • salt
  • Cajun 2 Step (Regular and Fire)
  • Cajun 2 Step crawfish seasoning
  • Jalapeno flakes

Step 1- Chopping

First thing to do is get your onion and bell pepper chopped. Now we do want some chunks because we are putting them on the stick. I like to make an assembly line to try to keep this process going as quickly as possible. You can take each tenderloin and cut into 4ths some I was able to cut into 5ths.

Step 2- Assemble

The fun part, Assembly time. Grab your skewer, place one onion slice onto the stick, followed by the bacon sticking it into one end of the strip and letting it dangle. Next we grab a piece of chicken, followed by a piece of bell pepper. Then we are gonna grab our bacon that’s dangling and give it a wrap around. Repeating with the chicken, onion, then wrap, until it’s all full. Repeat until everything is done.

Step 3- Seasoning

We gotta add some flavor to these skewers, so first up is my normal blend of Onion powder, Garlic powder, Salt, and Pepper. Now I just sprinkle a bit of each season onto them but for a more accurate amount, you can check out the recipe card below. Next up, I add Cajun 2 Step seasoning to all of them and I only added the Fire Cajun 2 Step to four of them to give us adults some spice. I also added Jalapeno pepper flakes to the adult ones followed by a sprinkle of the Cajun 2 Step crawfish boil seasoning. That one really gave it some spice. Then to top them all off, I drizzled some Worcestershire Sauce all over them.

Step 4- Baking

So my oven has an Air Fry mode and I did use that function set at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. But you could also just bake normally at 350 for 25 minutes also. Just check to make sure they are done.

What to serve with Bacon Wrapped Chicken Kabobs

Since we had a long day at the park, I decided to just give into my kids wants, and give them some ramen noodles on the side, but the side possibilities could be endless. Depending on how you feeling and if you wanna get fancy, we could have..

  • Fried Rice
  • Salad ( the kabobs being the main protein)
  • Potato salad
  • Pasta salad
  • Baked beans
  • Mac and Cheese
  • Ramen noodles

Any of those sound delicious, plus you can take it off the stick, place it inside a tortilla with some cheese, lettuce, and a drizzle of Kinders Sweet & Spicy Korean Sauce, and you have yourself an easy lunch, perfect for using the leftovers for.

Thanks for stopping by and if you gave thise recipe a try, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below. For more recipes check out these below.

Equipment

  • oven
  • skewers

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg chicken tenderloins can double if needed
  • 1 pkg Bacon thin cut or regular
  • 1 onion chopped in big chunks
  • 1 bell pepper chopped in big chunks
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Cajun 2 Step seasoning regular
  • 1 tsp Cajun 2 Step Fire Seasoning Fire (optional for spicey)
  • 1 tsp Jalapeno flakes optional for spicey
  • 1 tsp Cajun 2 Step crawfish boil seasoning optional for spicey

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Chop your chicken tenderloins, onion, and bell pepper. Making sure to remove the inners of the pepper. You want big chunks for the skewers.
  • Grab your skewer, add a piece of onion to it followed by a piece of the bacon. We are just going to poke a hole in the bacon in the beginning and then at the end. During the layering process we are only wrapping it around. So, onion, bacon, chicken, bell pepper, then wrap bacon around stick and repeat layering.
  • It's seasoning time. Mix all the seasoning ingredients together and then shake the mixture on top of the skewers. The optional seasoning above is just for the extra spice factor. If you love spice, add that also.
  • Place these on a tinfoil baking pan, and drizzle the Worcestershire sauce on top.
  • Air Fry at 350 degrees for 25 minutes if you have that option. If not, just bake at the same temperature and check after 25 minutes to see if they are done. Add time if they need it.
  • Take out and enjoy.
