Printable Candy Corn Mini Piñata Tutorial

Print, cut, and glue your very own Candy Corn Mini Piñata and fill it with your favorite candy for Halloween.

Learn how to assemble this adorable Printable Candy Corn, Piñata Style.

Hey Magical Crafters, Halloween is coming and what better way to celebrate then making that iconic candy, only in a mini pinata style. Even if you aren’t a fan of eating the candy, you can fill your Printable Piñata with Your favorite Halloween candy.

I do have an SVG file for this Candy Corn Mini piñata as well as a video putting it together over on our YouTube Channel, Ivy Lillies. I however do not have the matching blog post, but it’s pretty much the same as below minus the Cricut Design Space information.

All we need to get started are the following supplies…

  • Cardstock (65lb)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Ribbon or yarn
  • Double sided foam tape
  • Tweezers or Score Pen
  • Crepe paper
  • PDF Candy Corn template
  • PDF Candy Corn Details

Make sure to head over to our Etsy Shop to grab the file. And check out the Magical Crafting Library for the free detail accents.

Of course you need a printer to print the file, but fear not if you don’t have one, just swing by your local library or print shop and have them print it out for you. I do recommend bringing some cardstock at least in the 65lb weight to have them print on to. And if not, you could trace it and cut it out of cardstock at home. This also works if you have an old cereal box laying around, you could trace onto that and cut it out.

Once you have cut out the candy corn panels, it time to grab your tweezers or Score pen and create some creases by applying pressure and tracing over the dash lines on each panel. In doing so, we can just fold each tab over much easier.

Now we are ready to glue the side panels to the base panel. All of the panels are labeled so you can glue in confidence. Grab the one with the number one on it and place where you see the one on the base panel. Add a few drops of glue to the tab and use your nozzle tip to spread it out. Line it up on the base panel and hold into place for a few seconds. Repeat with the remaing panels.

If you haven’t noticed until now, this design has the door going in the back instead of the side. I have also included a little latch option where you can add a strip to the inside to slide the tip of the door into for a more secure close.

If you like this option, let me know down in the comments. This is the perfect time to add the door and ribbon through the hanging holes.

Apply the top panel on top of the tabs, taking your time to line the edges up as you go.

Once you are finished assembling your candy corn, it’s time to add the crepe paper and turn it into a mini pinata.

I have a video showing how I create my fringes if you would like to watch it over on our YouTube Channel, Ivy Lillies.

Grabbing your chosen color, start folding the crepe paper over on itself a few times, then grab your scissors and make alot of cuts on one side. Then turn it around and cut on the other side. Next cut it down the middle giving you two strips of fringe crepe paper to work with.

Apply a row of glue around the bottom of the candy corn, then attach the fringe into place. Always work from the bottom going up to give you that traditional layer look.

With this shape I did do each row, working my way up including the sides. After it’s all covered I went back and covered the bottom.

Make sure you still have access to your door. You can cut away the fringe if you glued it in one contuinous go.

Next we need to add our ribbon for the door and also the top if you want to hang it.

Add your double sided tape to the back side of your detail accent and place it onto the front of the candy corn.  You could also just glue it on as well.

CONGRATS CRAFTER, you just made a Printable Candy Corn Mini Pinata all by yourself. Give yourself a hug and start filling your piñata up with goodies, or just hang it up as decorations because you get that option.

Glad you asked, really anything that can fit inside it could go in. Unfortunately,  this PDF file isn’t big enough to fit a gift card inside unless you thought ahead and added it inside before gluing the top panel on. Then they would definitely have to rip this mini pinata apart to grab the goodies.
