Step by Step Instructions: DIY Pencil Mini Pinata
Let’s get to it. First thing we need to do is download and print the templates. You don’t have to print the pinata template in color but I’d recommend printing the Detail accents in color since it’s going on top.

Once everything is printed, carefully cut the pinata template out. Do not cut on the dash lines. This is where we are going to fold later. The Detail accents page does have dash lines to follow for cutting.
Now that we have them cut out, we need to now fold along the dash lines. In order to do this, grab a score pen or a pair of tweezers and rub them down the dash lines to create folds. Next, just fold the side panel over and continue with the other panels.

Now it’s time to glue. Each panel has a number that matches where it goes on the base panel. The only one we will not glue down is the one marked with a D for Door. Instead we are going to glue the connecting tab from the previous panel to the door. This way we can still open and close our door for easy access to the goodies.

You only need a few dots of glue on each side tab. Once you complete glueing all the panels down to the base panel, it’s time to glue the top panel. Gently push the top side tabs down a bit and add glue. Then carefully add the top panel, making sure everything is getting lined up into place.

You should have something that looks like this.
Fringe Time
Next we are going to transform this pencil into a Pencil Mini Pinata with the help of adding some fringe. I use crepe paper for this step. Just cut the crepe paper in half and then add some fringe on one side of the crepe paper.

Now we are going to start at the bottom and work our way up. If you are adding more then one color, let’s start with the black. Continue with the black until you reach the straight part of the pencil body. Then switch to the yellow and then pink towards the top for the eraser.
If you printed out the Bonus detail elements, now is the time to use them. Pick a side to be the front and put the pencil details together. I used glue for the pencil details and then used double side tape to apply it to the front of the mini pinata.

Add your string or ribbon to the holes in the door for easy access.
Congrats crafter, you made your first Mini Pencil Pinata using a printable template.
